A dream is a wish your heart makes (Walt Disney). These immortal words were spoken by none other than the one and only Walter Elias Disney. Better known as Walt Disney, hes one of the most successful dreamers of all time as proved by his worldwide company. Hes the perfect example of dreams leading to success, made evident by the current size of his company with 5 resorts worldwide and almost 60 years of amazing unbeatable hospitality and service. The three most predominate things that led to his success were his love of the job, his perseverance against all odds and his genuine passion for bringing joy to everyone in the world especially children and families. The truth of how to make your dreams come true lies in the life of the great Walt Disney. Disney was just a man on going to Hollywood with a sketch of a mouse, and the courage to pursue his dream of filling each childs mind with endless wonder. Disneyland is a work of love. We didnt go into Disneyland just with the idea of making money. He truly loved his job and cared about children. He was a smoker, but he wouldnt smoke in front of people because he didnt want kids to know. He did so much to make the world a better place. He put everything he had on the line, and even though money was not a part of his goal, it was a major problem. It takes a lot of money to pursue dreams of that size. But for every penny, Walt was willing to put in the work and give up anything he had, to make this dream come true. He persevered against all odds. He faced a lot to get his company to the point its at today. When he was young, he was fired from a newspaper because his boss believed he lacked creativity. He went on to form an animation company called Laugh-O-Gram Films. He used his natural sales talent to raise $15,000 ($181,000 today). Unfortunately afterwards he made a deal with a NY company that closed down which forced him to close his company. He was beaten down, but he wasnt defeated. He worked at Universal Studios for a while. He soon discovered that a character he created had been secretly patented by Universal and they practically fired him. Even after all of this, he kept trying. He struggled to release some of his movies (now classics) because people in the studios didnt like them. It was said that Mickey Mouse would terrify women, The Three Little Pigs needed more characters, and Fantasia was completely misunderstood when first presented. Disney persevered through everything. Perhaps his greatest struggle was the war to produce Mary Poppins as a movie. Anyone who has seen the movie Saving Mr. Banks knows it was difficult. However, what most people dont know is that Mr. Disney went to house of the author of the story, Pamela Travers, every year for 16 years. Each time picking away at the womans heart and finally she was persuaded to give him the rights to make the movie. Disneys whole life was an endless battle, but through every obstacle and low point he had persevered. There were times he was probably going to give up, to turn around and quit, but something inside him burned. He had a passion for his dream and he wasnt going to back down until it was accomplished. I love Mickey Mouse more than any woman I have ever known. Any man who can say something like that, has true passion. If someone doesnt have a passion for their dream, they can never accomplish it. Someone with true passion doesnt need reason to do something, they just do it. They are their own critic and they dont need anybody elses approval. Walt Disney knew this concept well. He had a certain process by which his ideas came about. He had three rooms, a dreamer room where any idea was possible with no boundaries or limitations, the reality room where he would make his dreams more realistic, and a critic room where he poked holes in his ideas so that the end result was the best possible ideas that turned into the classic movies we know and love. There is so much to be said about Walt Disney. He was an authentic dreamer, one of a kind. He had a true love for his job, he persevered through all of his failures, and had a passion inside of him that ran deep into his soul. He came from nothing and became a household name. Walt Disney didnt let his consequences affect his main goal, he had good personal responsibility to not let his failures take control of his life, and he used them as a way to become even more successful. If you can dream it, you can do it.
